The only drink you need this autumn

Those who know me know I have passion for pure aloe vera: It is a staple in my test kit and has helped many of my clients over the years. As we are all easing out of lockdown and should be looking after our health like never before, I thought I should take this opportunity to share with you why I am passionate about this cactus-like plant and why you should consider drinking it this autumn. And if after reading this blog, you can answer just one quiz question at the end, a special gift awaits...

The aloe vera plant grows abundantly in tropical climates and has been used for centuries as a medicinal plant. The inside of the aloe vera plant is a gooey, thick liquid. It’s commonly known to treat sunburns. But drinking this healthy elixir provides you with a number of other health benefits.

I drink a shot every morning as a general nutritional cleansing health tonic. It’s especially beneficial to the digestion improving the absorption of nutrients. It’s helped many of my clients over the years develop a stronger immune system, better digestion, skin and happy joints.

Nutritious boost

Aloe vera juice is jam-packed with nutrients. In its purest form contains 200 nutritional compounds including 12 vitamins, 20 minerals and 19 of the 20 amino acids and 7 of the 8 essential ones that it cannot make itself, needed by the human body which provides all the benefits what body daily needed. This means that the body can function at 100%.

Digestive benefits

If your digestive system isn’t operating optimally, you won’t absorb all of the nutrients from the food you’re eating. You have to keep your internal engine healthy in order to reap the benefits from your diet. By drinking aloe, clinical evidence has shown that the bowel is better able to absorb these nutrients more efficiently: A healthy digestion ensures that the nutrients from the food we eat are absorbed into the bloodstream.

Aloe vera contains several enzymes known to help in the breakdown of sugars and fats and to keep your digestion running smoothly, making it ideal for people with regular constipation.

Aloe vera may help decrease irritation in the stomach and intestines which makes it a good natural way to help alleviate IBS and other inflammatory disorders of the intestines.

Aloe vera is a ‘balancer’ in many areas and nowhere more so than in the gut, where it tends to regulate the various bacteria and

yeasts that inhibit it, keeping your healthy intestinal flora balanced.

Hydration: Liver and Kidney health

The aloe plant is very water-dense, so it’s an ideal way to prevent or treat dehydration. Staying hydrated helps your body detox by providing a way for you to purge and flush out impurities. Aloe vera gel is therefore an excellent way to keep your liver healthy. Both the liver and the kidney function best when the body is adequately nourished and hydrated. Aloe vera gel is ideal for both because it’s hydrating and rich in phytonutrients.

Improved skin tone

Aloe vera is a rich source of antioxidants and vitamins that may help protect your skin:

• Gives a smoother look to the skin by improving cohesion where superficial skin cells are stuck together

• Improves skin texture with its intense moisturisation

• Reduces the effects of ultraviolet light by strengthening the skin's immune response

• Reduces wrinkle formation by improving the replication of skin fibroblasts (the cells that make collagen and elastin fibres)

So if you want to look and feel good this autumn, join me in drinking a shot of aloe every morning and see for yourself what you make of it.
